Motto of Hajj 2022 Announced

This was announced in a meeting of the Hajj planning and coordination committee, attended by officials of the Leader’s Representative Office in Hajj and the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, held in Tehran on Tuesday.

Presided over by the Leader’s representative in Hajj affairs, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Abdul Fattah Navab, the meeting also discussed the latest preparations and measures regarding the upcoming Hajj.

Hojat-ol-Islam Navab said the motto that has been selected for this year’s Hajj signifies spirituality, unity, the Islamic world’s power and defending the oppressed.

He said Hajj is an opportunity for highlighting the challenges facing the Muslim world and, given the recent events in Palestine, there is need for exchanging views on this important issue and defending Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Quds during Hajj.

Also at the meeting, Seyed Sadeq Hosseini, the head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization talked about the preparations for sending Iranian pilgrims to Hajj this year.

Last week, Akbar Rezaei, the Hajj and Umrah Deputy of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, said that according to the official announcement by Saudi Arabia, 39,635 Iranians will go on the pilgrimage in 2022.

He said the number includes both pilgrims and those who go to Saudi Arabia to facilitate the services to Iranian pilgrims.

He added that according to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Hajj pilgrims need to be below 65 years of age, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have a negative coronavirus test before leaving for the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia has announced that it will receive foreign pilgrims for Hajj this year after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Figures show some 5.8 million Iranians are on a waiting list for travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

They have been waiting for years for their turn.
