Imam Ali (peace be upon him) did not protest Ghadeer’s hadith in Saqifah, because protesting in Saqifah was not possible; Because Ali (peace be upon him) and his companions were preparing for the bath and burial of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and were not present in the Saqeefah.
Those who had gathered in Saqeefah were in a hurry to get the privilege of their tribe and tribe. From the Ansar who were from Medina, no one was present except their leaders and elders. Only three or four of the emigrants were not present in Saqeefah as “Quraysh”. Some of them threatened and intimidated the people so that they would not tell the news of the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). They were staying. Therefore, at that time, most Muslims were far away from Saqifah and its adventures.
Therefore, the Saqifa conference was held without the news of people like: Imam Ali (peace be upon him), Ibn Abbas and other Bani Hashem, Miqdad, Salman, Abu Dharr, Ammar, and many other great companions. At that time, when the people of Saqifa took Abu Bakr to the mosque and asked some people to pledge allegiance, and the people came to the mosque willingly or unwillingly to pledge allegiance to him, Ali (peace be upon him) and his companions were still from the bath and shroud of the Prophet (PBUH). (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had not stopped rushing to Saqeefah and quarreling about the caliphate. When they finished bathing and shrouding, the work was finished and Abu Bakr was leaning on the chair of the caliphate. At that time, anyone who refused to pledge allegiance was considered one of the instigators of sedition, and Muslims should fight him and even kill him if necessary! From this point of view, we can see that Umar threatened to kill Sa’d bin Ubadah and shouted: “Iqtluha is the murder of Allah!”; (Kill him; God kill him!). This was only because Saad refused to pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr.
