Winner of Croatia Int’l Quran Contest Honored in Yemen

Abdul Rahman Faisal al-Maliki, a Quran memorizer from Yemen who came first in the memorization category of Croatia’s international Quran competition was honored in a ceremony.

 

 

At the ceremony, held in Aden, Yemen’s Awqaf and Guidance Minister Muhammad bin Aida Shabibah hailed the memorizer for his great accomplishment, Maarib Press reported.

He described al-Maliki as an exemplary citizen of Yemen and highlighted the blessings in memorizing the Quran and teaching it to others.

Shabibah also said Yemen is home to many Quran memorizers, adding that many people learn the Quran in mosques and schools across the country, some of whom attend international Quran competitions and win top ranks.

He further appreciated the efforts of Quranic centers, institutes and schools that strive to promote Quran memorization and the culture of moderation in the Arab country.

Croatia’s 28th international Quran competition began in the European country’s capital of Zagreb on September 22 and wrapped up in an awarding ceremony on September 24.

Iran’s representative Ali Reza Mokari bagged the top prize in the recitation category.
