They strived to establish and promote religious obligations such as Salah, Zakat, and Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
The Quran says: “(They) establish the prayers and pay the obligatory charity, order with honor and forbid dishonor, and to Allah is the end of all affairs.” (Verse 41 of Surah Al-Hajj)
Salah is a manifestation of people’s relationship with God and Zakat symbolizes people’s relationship with one another.
Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, meanwhile, helps to revive values and righteousness and remove evils and vices from the society.
