The Miraculous Birth of Imam Mahdi (A.S.)
A narration from the book “Ikmaal al-Diin”.
On the authority of Musaa ibn Muhammad he said: Lady Hakima bint Muhammad bin Ali ibn Musaa ibn Ja’far ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn al-Husain ibn Ali ibn abi Ta’lib related to me: Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali (A.S.) sent for me and said my aunt break your fast with us because this is the night of mid-month of Sha’baan and verily Allah the High will make the proof to appear this night and he is going to be His proof in this earth, I asked him, who is his mother? He told me: is Narjis, I told him may God make me your ransom there is no sign in her? He said: is exactly what I am telling you, then I (Hakimah) came to her (Narjis) after I greeted and sat down she came to me removing my shoe and she told me how are you my lady this evening? I told her you are rather my lady and the lady of my household, she denied my speech and said: my aunt what is this? I then told her that: My dear daughter Allah the Exalted grants you in this night of yours a baby that is going to be the master in this world and hereafter.
She then sat and felt shy, when I finished from the Ishaa prayer and breaking of my fast I went to bed and slept, When it was mid-night I got up to perform prayers, I finished my prayer and she was still asleep and nothing happened to her, I sat down to say my supplications later I went to the bed but after a while I woke up suddenly, She then woke and rose up and performed prayer.
Hakima said: when I started having some doubts Abu Muhammad from a session cried out! Aunt! Don’t be in haste because the matter is very near, she said: I then recited the two chapters of Quran: Alam Sajda and Yaasin while being in that position she woke up suddenly I rushed towards her and said: God’s name is on you then I asked her: are you feeling something? She said: yes my aunt, I then told her gather your body and heart together it is exactly what I have told you. Hakiimah said: Then weakness overwhelmed me and she was also overwhelmed with impulsion, I roused up while perceiving my master (A.S.) when staying with him I removed the sheet from him and he was prostrating lying his forehead, palms, knees and toes on the earth, I embraced him and when I was with him he was clean and have been made to be clean, Abu Muhammad (A.S.) cried out and said my aunt bring my son to me, I took his son to him, he put his hands under his thighs and back and put the infant’s feet on his chest, he then put his tongue in his mouth and touched his eyes, ears and joints with his hands. “My son, I talk,” he said then.
The baby said, “ I bear witness that a deity other than Allah, the one without a partner, is not; and I bear witness that Muhammad is Allah’s messenger.” He then beseeched blessings for the prince of the believers and the imams until he reached at his father and then respectfully stopped.
Abu Muhammad (A.S.) said, “ Aunt, take him to his mother so he may give her greetings and hen bring him to me.” I took her to his mother and he greeted her. Then I brought him back and put him in the sitting room. He then said, “ Aunt when it is the seventh day come to us.”
Lady Hakiimah says in the morning I came to offer my greetings to Abu Muhammad (A.S.). I removed the curtain looking for my master. Not seeing him I asked his father, “May I be your ransom where is my master?”
He said “We entrusted him to the one that mother of Moses had entrusted Moses to.” When it was the seventh day I came and greeted and sat. He said, “Bring to me my son.” I brought my master in a wrap. He acted towards his same in the same way he had acted the first time. Then he put his tongue into his mouth: seemed as if he was feeding him milk or honey. Then he said “Talk O’ my son.”
The blessed infant said “I bear witness that a deity other than Allah in not.” He then praised and beseeched blessings for Muhammad and ‘Ali, the prince of the believers, and every one of the imams, blessings of Allah be upon all of them, until his father. He then recited this verse, “ In the name of Allah, the merciful the compassionate: And we desire to confer kindness upon those who have been enfeebled on the earth and make them imams and make them heirs and give them power on earth and show Pharoah and Haamaan and their armies from them what they have been averting.”
Musa ibn Muhammad says I asked “Aqaba” the servant about this and he authenticated and verified Lady Hakiimah’s narration.
