{"id":15220,"date":"2022-04-20T08:53:08","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T07:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shiastudies.com\/en\/?p=15220"},"modified":"2022-04-20T08:53:08","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T07:53:08","slug":"oic-condemns-quran-burning-sweden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shiastudies.com\/en\/15220\/oic-condemns-quran-burning-sweden\/","title":{"rendered":"OIC condemns Quran burning in Sweden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)\u00a0 strongly condemned the burning of copies of the holy Quran in Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha denounced \u201cthe provocative actions of burning copies of the Holy Quran during anti-Muslim demonstrations, which have been taking place in Linkoping, Norrkoping, and other cities in Sweden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The OIC said the burning has raised Muslim concerns of \u201cthe alarming trend of Islamophobia perpetuated by extreme right supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The OIC chief, however, said the burning of Quran \u201cdoes not reflect the views of the majority of Swedish and European citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the far-right Stram Kurs (Hard Line) group, burned a copy of the Muslim holy book in Sweden\u2019s southern Linkoping city.
