{"id":16637,"date":"2022-07-04T04:56:34","date_gmt":"2022-07-04T03:56:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shiastudies.com\/en\/?p=16637"},"modified":"2022-07-04T04:56:34","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T03:56:34","slug":"study-imam-al-jawads-marriage-mamuns-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shiastudies.com\/en\/16637\/study-imam-al-jawads-marriage-mamuns-daughter\/","title":{"rendered":"A Study on Imam al-Jawad&#8217;s Marriage to Ma&#8217;mun\u2019s Daughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 25 years of silence of Im\u0101m\u02bfAl\u012b (\u02bfa), the truce of Im\u0101m al-Mujtab\u0101 (\u02bfa), the uprising of Im\u0101m al-\u1e24usayn with his wife and children in an unequal battle, acceptance of the crown princeship (<em>wil\u0101yat al-<\/em>\u02bf<em>ahd\u012b<\/em>) of Im\u0101m al-Ri\u1e0d\u0101\u00a0 (\u02bfa) and the marriage of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) with Ma\u02bcm\u016bn\u2019s daughter named Umm al-Fa\u1e0dlare of those types of historical ambiguities.<\/p>\n<p>Here, our researchers have chosen one of two ways and answered.First, they said, since we cannot confirm these matters to the outward aspect of the\u00a0<em>shar\u012b\u02bfah<\/em>, and on the other hand, the pure Im\u0101ms are infallible;these matters are necessarily divine secrets and no one knows that secret.The second way;analyzing and stating possible causes that may play a role in this part of the history of the Im\u0101ms (\u02bfa). We do not think that the first way can be offered to the questioning society of today\u2019s generation.<\/p>\n<p>In our opinion, the first way is not perfect and cannot be offered to today\u2019s questioning society.That whenever we did not know the answer to a question immediately seek help from the category of \u201csecrets,\u201d is one of the intellectual sediments of the Ash\u02bfarites that has penetrated among us.Because they are not able to defend themselves in the face of a multitude of objections to the idea of \u201cdeterminism\u201d and rely on this verse of the Holy Qur\u02bf\u0101n, \u201c<em>He is not questioned concerning what He does<\/em>.\u201d[21:23]<\/p>\n<p>Another problem with these types of answers is that,if we seek to relate the manners (<em>s\u012brah<\/em>) of the Im\u0101ms (\u02bfa) to secrets, the fact that they are \u201cthe living model of all ages will be meaningless.\u201d In this case, it is possible for someone to say that an Im\u0101m whose life is full of \u201csecrets\u201d or \u201cpractice of the unseen\u201d or \u201cmiracles,\u201d how can he be my role model that I do not have all those attributes?!But the second way is a good way because the scientific and research space is open for more accurate and up-to-date answers.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the marriage of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) with the daughter of Ma\u02bcm\u016bn, it is necessary to pay attention to a few points, and according to these points, the correct answer appears.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Firstly<\/strong>, we must place ourselves in that era when researching complex historical events and see that after the martyrdom of Im\u0101m al-Ri\u1e0d\u0101 (\u02bfa), the finger of accusation was pointed at Ma\u02bcm\u016bn by the Sh\u012b\u02bb\u0101hs of Khor\u0101s\u0101n, Iraq, Baghd\u0101d and Hij\u0101z and Ma\u02bcm\u016bn touched on it closely after coming to Baghd\u0101d.<\/p>\n<p>Here, Ma\u02bcm\u016bn has no way to get rid of the accusation that led to his curse and rebuke, so he decided to get out of that accusation and attract and attract the attention of the Sh\u012b\u02bfahs and \u02bfAlaw\u012btes.Therefore, he wrote a letter to Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) and honourably and respectfully asked him to go to Baghd\u0101d, in order to remove the mental conspiracy that people have of him with great respect and reverence in the public eye towards the Im\u0101m (\u02bfa).<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, he wrote a letter to Imam al-Jawad (a) and respectfully asked him to go to Baghd\u0101d to take out the mentality that people have of him with great reverence and reverence in public towards The Imam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secondly<\/strong>, Ma\u02bcm\u016bn is also a human being and has normal human desires. Every human being likes to leave his beloved daughter to the best.Is it not true that Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) demonstrated his vast knowledge in his childhood and fascinate everyone from Sh\u012b\u02bfahs and Sunnis and non-Muslims?<\/p>\n<p>That is why Shaykh al-Muf\u012bd in his book\u00a0<em>al-Irsh\u0101d<\/em>\u00a0confirmed and acknowledged the marriage of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) in this way. That this marriage was due to Ma\u02bcm\u016bn\u2019s love for the Im\u0101m (\u02bfa) and his belief in Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d\u2019s grace.Thus, when the \u02bfAbb\u0101sids strongly objected to Ma\u02bcm\u016bn, his response to this was, \u201c<em>The reason why I chose Mu\u1e25ammad ibn \u02bfAl\u012b [Im\u0101m\u00a0<\/em><em>al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa)<\/em><em>]as my son-in-law is because\u00a0<\/em><em>of his superiority in science and knowledge over all scientists of the time, although he is a child<\/em><em>. Indeed,\u00a0<\/em><em>his knowledge is amazing and I hope that what I know about him will be revealed to the people so that they will know that the correct opinion is what I expressed about him<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thirdly<\/strong>, Ma\u02bcm\u016bn is also living by natural human desires and like any other ruler wants and his government strategy requires that he be fully aware of his opponents and the opposition of his government. Now, who better than his daughter can inform the father about the personal life of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa)?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fourthly<\/strong>, based on the analysis of human mental states and personality, love, and hate, another point that can be raised in the reason for this marriage is that Ma\u02bcm\u016bn, who is himself a scientist and a very shrewd person, observed that the family of the Prophet Mu\u1e25ammad (\u1e63) have a special greatness.Now, why shouldn\u2019t he do this now that he can place his descendants, through his daughter, in the generation of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) and finally the family of the Prophet, and immortalize his name, family and generation?!Assume that Umm al-Fa\u1e0dl had a son from Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) and attained the position of Im\u0101mate, was not this transfer of Im\u0101mate to the \u02bfAbb\u0101sid dynasty?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fifthly<\/strong>, according to the same human desire, whoever comes to power,likes to take his opponent off the stage without a fight or a battle, and to be at the forefront of the present and the future. Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) has virtues and is favoured by public opinion. By bringing the Im\u0101m closer to the government system, the glory and power of Im\u0101m will be damaged. That is why he brought Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) into his house and he was somewhat successful in this plan.The evidence is that he transferred the life of the Im\u0101m from Mad\u012bnah to Baghd\u0101d and provided good conditions for the residence of the Im\u0101m. Basically, his intention was that this royal and luxurious life that was full of splendour will make the Im\u0101m face the challenge of the people\u2019s faith and heart.<\/p>\n<p>\u1e24usayn al-Makk\u0101r\u012b\u2019s question is an example of public opinion on the subject that criticizes the way of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d\u2019s (\u02bfa) life and according to Qu\u1e6db al-D\u012bn al-R\u0101wand\u012b, Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) answered as follows,<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>O \u1e24usayn, Barley bread and coarse salt in the city of the Messenger of God, Mad\u012bnah, is better for me than what you see here in Baghd\u0101d<\/em>.\u201d Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) not only did not remain silent but enlightened the people.<\/p>\n<p>Another point in this marriage is why did Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) accept such a marriage? Here, as in the previous case, we should not withdraw ourselves from the context of the story and answer that the acceptance of this marriage by the Im\u0101m is one of the divine secrets and no one knows!<\/p>\n<p>Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) was really persecuted by Ma\u02bcm\u016bn.For example, it is quoted in\u00a0<em>Kit\u0101b al-K\u0101f\u012b<\/em>: Ma\u02bcm\u016bn wanted to make the Im\u0101m inclined to deceptive charms of the world by hiring a singer for the Im\u0101m,which with the decisive answer of the Im\u0101m, this plan also came to naught.<\/p>\n<p>Or another case is that the book\u00a0<em>al-Man\u0101qib<\/em>\u00a0quotes and discusses the complexity and evil intentions of Ma\u02bcm\u016bn.Ma\u02bcm\u016bn uses every plan and trick to destroy the character of the Im\u0101m. One of his plans was that, when he wanted to marry his daughter to the Im\u0101m, he ordered one hundred of his most beautiful maids and took each of them a cup in which there was a shining jewel and offered it to Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) to tempt him!But the Im\u0101m did not pay any attention to them.<\/p>\n<p>Another example:He sent a person named Mukh\u0101riq, who had a long beard and his job was playing and singing, to the Im\u0101m. Mukh\u0101riq sat in front of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) and began to sing and play. Im\u0101m\u00a0 al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) did not pay any attention to him and after a while, he raised his head and said: \u201cFear God!\u201dAs soon as the Im\u0101m\u2019s talk was over, the \u02bfawd and the tanb\u016br (musical instruments) fell from the hands of the Mukh\u0101riq, his hand became paralyzed and he remained paralyzed for the rest of his life.<\/p>\n<p>These examples show a strong, mysterious and hypocritical policy called \u201cmarriage\u201d that was formed against the Im\u0101m. If a person who is an Im\u0101m and has the knowledge of the unseen and dignity, but at the same time, like all other human beings, he is commissioned to a normal life. He is in a state that is completely under the influence of the ruling power. The shadow of the father lifted from his head.What can he do if he is offered a forced marriage?Should he resist and risk his life and obscure the leadership of the Sh\u012b\u02bfahs, or should he accept this compulsion like any other human being?<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) did not stop fighting and by showing his negative spirit, showed his reluctance and opposition to this marriage to everyone and exposed the political goals far from the ethics of the government of the time and made them a disgrace to history?<\/p>\n<p>This is exactly what Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) did when he saw that there was no escape from this imposed marriage.Despite the opposition of his wife, Umm al-Fa\u1e0dl, he emigrated from Baghd\u0101d to Mad\u012bnah. Umm al-Fa\u1e0dl\u2019s complaining letters to his father Ma\u02bcm\u016bn about living in Mad\u012bnah show the success of Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa) and the defeat of Ma\u02bcm\u016bn. Umm al-Fa\u1e0dl wrote in a letter to her father that Im\u0101m al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa)<em>married other women and this made me jealous<\/em>. Ma\u02bcm\u016bn wrote in response to his daughter,\u201c<em>My daughter, I did not marry you to Im\u0101m\u00a0<\/em><em>al-Jaw\u0101d (\u02bfa)<\/em><em>\u00a0until you forbid him doing \u1e25al\u0101l (marriage to women other than you), then do not say what you mentioned.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The important question that arises here is how our Im\u0101ms, given their awareness of the future of the earth and time, put themselves in such a situation and accept a marriage that his wife will kill him?The answer to this famous question is that just as the Im\u0101ms (\u02bfa) have the status of \u201cinfallibility\u201d<em>(\u02bfi\u1e63mah<\/em>), they also have the status of \u201cknowledge of the unseen\u201d(\u02bf<em>ilm al-ghayb<\/em>) and we have no any doubt in this belief.
