According to the website of the representative office of al-Nujaba in Iran, Hujjat al-Islam Akram al-Kaabi, the Secretary-General of the al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement, shed light on the dimensions of \u201csoft war,\u201d the destructive policies governing the internet and the necessity of \u201cexplanatory jihad\u201d in a tweet posted on his personal account.<\/p>\n
Hujjat al-Islam al-Kaabi pointed out that \u201cthe enemy\u2019s soft war aimed at controlling the wisdom of the crowd is becoming broader and more advanced every day in terms of tools and equipment\u201d and noted, \u201cThis war starts from the poisonous rumours spread by the mercenaries; From written, visual and audio media to the internet, which includes social media networks.\u201d<\/p>\n
He considered the distinguishing feature of social media networks to be speed and ease of use and continued, \u201cIn this regard, the enemy propagates ideas whose appearance is prosperity and whose inside is destruction and distortion of facts in order to divert society, dominate over it and push it imperceptibly towards its own evil desires and goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
While criticizing the policy of deletion and censorship of most social media networks, including Facebook, the secretary-general of al-Nujaba added, \u201cThey eliminate movements that stand against their perverted ideas. Today everyone knows that names, words, articles, pictures, videos, sermons or even simple messages of condolence can be deleted without any prior warning.\u201d<\/p>\n
Explaining the new methods of censorship applied by the powers that rule the internet, Hujjat al-Islam al-Kaabi added, \u201cSome instant messaging applications have also taken the approach of limiting and shadow banning (rather than completely deleting) and allowing legitimate user accounts to reach a certain level, then closing them so that users have to start again from scratch. This is how they make a comparison [based on calculation error] between fake accounts with millions of followers and real accounts with limited followers in the society.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pointing out that the enemy has put maximum control of websites and social media networks on its agenda, he noted, \u201cEven if the intended user of the account does not follow them, they manage in such a way that anti-rational ideas permeate the society and people are pulled in all directions like marionettes.\u201d<\/p>\n
The high-ranking commander of the Iraqi Resistance continued to pay attention to the dubious role of some bloggers and social media activists and wrote, \u201c[Most of] those who live abroad, have sold themselves to the intelligence organizations that are enemies of Islam and subordinate to the colonial and arrogant countries and it is no secret that they spread poisonous ideas on the internet with a detailed plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hujjat al-Islam al-Kaabi then clarified, \u201cThese issues make the explanatory jihad which the Supreme Leader emphasizes on, obligatory on us. He declared the explanatory jihad as an individual and immediate obligation and therefore, it is obligatory for anyone who can respond to these ideas, confront them, and guide people to act immediately and not wait for someone\u2019s invitation to fulfill their religious duties.\u201d<\/p>\n
While calling on the believing users to be present in a widespread manner on the internet to perform their religious and jihadi duties, he emphasized, \u201cClarifying and confronting deviant thoughts and doubts, rumours, the spread of lies and deception on the internet is no less important than military activity on the battlefield because it is an activity to protect the youth and society and protect them so that they are not deceived and do not end up on the enemy\u2019s front.\u201d<\/p>\n
In conclusion, the secretary-general of al-Nujaba noted, \u201cAlthough most of the internet (if not all of it) is in the hands of the enemy, our jihad is based on using alternative capacities and identifying the enemy\u2019s weaknesses in this field; Just as the martyred warrior brings his martyrdom to the heart of the battlefield and conducts operations in the enemy\u2019s land.\u201d<\/p>\n
