{"id":18076,"date":"2023-11-05T08:04:31","date_gmt":"2023-11-05T08:04:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shiastudies.com\/en\/?p=18076"},"modified":"2023-11-05T08:04:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-05T08:04:31","slug":"cleric-highlights-importance-attached-islam-protection-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shiastudies.com\/en\/18076\/cleric-highlights-importance-attached-islam-protection-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Cleric Highlights Importance Attached by Islam to Protection of Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"subtitle\">An Islamic seminary scholar said protection of the environment is an important issue that Islam lays emphasis on.<\/div>\n<div class=\"wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"body ah_body\">\n<p>Addressing a forum on \u201cAir Pollution from the Viewpoint of Fiqh and Law\u201d, Hojat-ol-Islam Salman Behjati said the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iqna.ir\/en\">Holy Quran<\/a>, Hadiths and Fatwas of Faqihs have underlined the need for protecting the environment.<\/p>\n<p>The forum was organized by the Contemporary Fiqh Studies Research Center in Qom on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He quoted a Hadith from Imam Sadiq (AS) who said life would not be sweet without clean air and water and fertile land.<\/p>\n<p>Those who claim interest in protection of the environment began in the 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century in Europe are mistaken, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Teachings about importance of the environment and safeguarding it have been there in Islamic sources for centuries, he noted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read More:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"sepehr-key-related-news\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/iqna.ir\/en\/news\/2468995\/protecting-the-environment-a-religious-duty-\">Protecting the Environment, A Religious Duty<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The cleric stressed the Quran\u2019s references to the environment, including Verse 58 of Surah Al-A\u2019raf: \u201cA good land produces plants, by the permission of its Lord, but a wicked land produces only miserable, bitter plants.
