Im\u0101m Ja\u02bffar ibne Mu\u1e25ammad as-\u1e62\u0101diq (a.s.) has said: \u201cAny time Waraqah ibne Nawfil would go to see Khad\u012bjah binte Khuwayl\u012bd, he would advise her as such, \u2018You should know that surely the young person who has good behaviour is the key to all goodness and is kept away from all evil, while the young person who has bad behaviour is kept away from all goodness and is the key to all evil.\u201d[35]

Im\u0101m \u02bfAl\u012b ibne Ab\u012b \u1e6c\u0101lib (a.s.) has said: \u201cYou should know that, may All\u0101h have mercy upon you, surely you are living in a time in which those who profess to be on the Truth are very few in number \u2026 their youth are obstinate, their young people are sinners, and their scholars are hypocrites.\u201d[36]<\/p>\n

Im\u0101m Ja\u02bffar ibne Mu\u1e25ammad as-\u1e62\u0101diq (a.s.) said to a companion named Al-A\u1e25wal: \u201c\u2019Have you been to Ba\u1e63rah?\u2019 The man replied, \u2018Yes.\u2019 The Im\u0101m (a.s.) then asked him, \u2018How did you find the enthusiasm of the people in regards to this issue [of the Wil\u0101yah and Im\u0101mate of the Ahlul Ba\u012bt] and their acceptance of it?\u2019 The man replied, \u2018I swear by All\u0101h surely those people [who follow and accept this] are few in number. They work upon this [propagating this belief to others, even though they are small in number.\u2019 The Im\u0101m replied to him, \u2018I advise you to work on the youth [in educating them on these issues] since surely they are quicker to accept all good things.\u2019\u201d[38]<\/p>\n

15.3 – Seeking knowledge while a Youth

\n12. The Prophet Ayy\u016bb (a.s.) has said: \u201cSurely All\u0101h implants wisdom [Al-\u1e24ikmah] in the heart of the young person and the old person. So then if All\u0101h makes a servant a wise person in his youth then he would not lower his status in the eyes of the intellectuals simply because he is of a young age since they will see the n\u016br (divine light) of All\u0101h radiating from this person.\u201d[42]<\/p>\n

15.4 – The Young person & refraining from seeking knowledge

\n13. Im\u0101m M\u016bs\u0101 ibne Ja\u02bffar al-K\u0101dhim (a.s.) has said: \u201cIf I was to find a youth from amongst the youth of the Sh\u012b\u02bea not gaining a deep knowledge and understanding, I would surely strike him with a sword.\u201d[43]

\n14. Im\u0101m Mu\u1e25ammad ibne \u02bfAl\u012b al-B\u0101qir (a.s.) has said: \u201cIf I were to find a youth from amongst the youth of the Sh\u012b\u02bea that was not engaged in gaining a deep knowledge and understanding [of the religion] I would seriously reprimand him.\u201d[44]

Im\u0101m Ja\u02bffar ibne Mu\u1e25ammad as-\u1e62\u0101diq (a.s.) has said: \u201cI do not like to see the youth from amongst yourselves except that he\/she is passing the life in one of two states: either as a scholar or as a student. So then if he is not in one of these two states then he is one who has wasted (something) and surely the one who wastes is one who has squandered something and surely the act of squandering is a sin and the person who commits a sin shall reside in the Hell Fire \u2013 I swear by the one who appointed Mu\u1e25ammad with The Truth.\u201d[45]<\/p>\n

15.5 – The greatness of a Young person who worships ‘Allah

\n17. The Messenger of All\u0101h (s.w.a.) has said: \u201cThere is nothing more beloved to All\u0101h, the High, than a young person who repents (for his sins); and there is nothing more detested in the sight of All\u0101h, the High, than an old person who perpetuates in disobeying Him.\u201d[47]

\n18. The Messenger of All\u0101h (s.w.a.) has said: \u201cSurely All\u0101h, The High, boasts to the Angels in regards to the young person who is a servant (of His) and He says, \u2018Look towards my servant! He has refrained from following his lowly desires for My sake alone.\u2019\u201d[48]

This is the thing for which the Most Merciful [Al-Ra\u1e25m\u0101n] boasts to His Angels about and says, \u2018This is truly my servant.\u2019\u201d[52]

It has been narrated about Prophet Ibr\u0101h\u012bm (a.s.) that one day he woke up and saw a white hair in his beard and said: \u201cAll praise belongs to All\u0101h, the Lord of the entire universe who has made me reach to this stage in my life in which I have not disobeyed All\u0101h for as much as the twinkling of the eye.\u201d[54]<\/p>\n

Im\u0101m Ja\u02bffar ibne Mu\u1e25ammad as-\u1e62\u0101diq (a.s.) said the following to Sulaym\u0101n ibne Ja\u02bffar Al-Hadhal\u012b: \u201cO\u2019 Sulaym\u0101n, what is meant by a young person [Al-Fat\u0101]?\u201d He said, \u201cMay I be sacrificed for your sake. In our opinion, a young person [Al-Fat\u0101] is a youth [Al-Sh\u0101bb].\u201d The Im\u0101m said to me, \u201cHowever you should know that surely the Companions of the Cave [A\u1e63\u1e25\u0101bul Kahf] were all old people, however All\u0101h refers to them as youth who have true faith?! O\u2019 Sulaym\u0101n, the one who believes in All\u0101h and has consciousness of Him is a young person.\u201d[55]

Im\u0101m Ja\u02bffar ibne Mu\u1e25ammad as-\u1e62\u0101diq (a.s.) said to a man: \u201cWhat is meant by a young person [Al-Fat\u0101] in your estimation?\u201d The man replied, \u201cA youth.\u201d The Im\u0101m (a.s.) replied, \u201cNo, the young person [Al-Fat\u0101] is the true believer. Surely the Companions of the Cave [A\u1e63\u1e25\u0101bul Kahf] were all old people, however All\u0101h, Glory and Greatness be to Him, called them youth who believed in Him.\u201d[56]
