Peace be upon you; O the vicegerent of Allah and the vicegerent of your well-guided fathers.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا خَليفةَ اللهِ وَخَلَيفةَ آبائِهِ الْمَهْدِيّينَ،
peace be upon you; O the Successor of the past Successors (of the Prophets).
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا وَصِيَّ الاَْوْصِياءِ الْماضينَ،
Peace be upon you; O the keeper of the secrets of the Lord of the worlds.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا حافِظَ أَسْرارِ رَبِّ الْعالَمينَ،
peace be upon you; O Allah’s remainder from among the elite, select ones.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا بَقِيَّةَ اللهِ مِنَ الصَّفْوَةِ الْمُنْتَجَبينَ،
peace be upon you; O son of the luminous lights.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ الاَْنْوارِ الزّاهِرَةِ،
peace be upon you; O son of the splendid signs.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ الاَْعْلامِ الْباهِرَةِ،
peace be upon you; O son of the immaculate progeny.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ الْعِتْرَةِ الطّاهِرَةِ،
peace be upon you; O the essence of the Prophetic knowledge.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا مَعْدِنَ الْعُلُومِ النَّبَوِيَّةِ،
peace be upon you; O Allah’s gate—the only gate from which one can enter to Him.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا بابَ اللهِ الَّذي لا يُؤْتى إِلاّ مِنْهُ،
peace be upon you; O Allah’s course that perdition will be the result of anyone who takes other than it.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا سَبيلَ اللهِ الَّذي مَنْ سَلَكَ غَيْرَهُ هَلَكَ،
peace be upon you; O the observer of the Tree of Bliss (tuba) and the Farthest Lot-tree.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا ناظِرَ شَجَرَةِ طُوبى وَسِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهى،
peace be upon you; O Allah’s light that never extinguishes.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا نُورَ اللهِ الَّذي لا يُطْفى،
peace be upon you; O Allah’s decisive argument that is never hidden.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا حُجَّةَ اللهِ الَّتي لا تَخْفى،
peace be upon you; O Allah’s decisive argument against all those in the earth and in the heavens.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا حُجَّةَ اللهِ عَلى مَنْ فِي الاَْرْضِ وَالسَّماءِ،
peace be upon you—a salutation of one who recognizes you as exactly as Allah has introduced you,
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ سَلامَ مَنْ عَرَفَكَ بِما عَرَّفَكَ بِهِ اللهُ،
and one who mentions only some of your characteristics that you are worthy of and even more.
وَنَعَتَكَ بِبَعْضِ نُعُوتِكَ الَّتي أَنْتَ أَهْلُها وَفَوْقُها،
I bear witness that you are the argument against the past and the coming generations,
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ الْحُجَّةُ عَلى مَنْ مَضى وَمَنْ بَقِيَ،
and that your party are the true triumphant,
وَأَنَّ حِزْبَكَ هُمُ الْغالِبُونَ
and your friends are the true winners,
وَأَوْلِياءَكَ هُمُ الْفائِزُونَ
and your enemies are truly losers.
وَأَعْداءَكَ هُمُ الْخاسِرُونَ،
and that you are the keeper of the entire knowledge
وَأَنَّكَ خازِنُ كُلِّ عِلْم،
and that you are the opener of all closed things
وَفاتِقُ كُلِّ رَتْق،
and that you are the establisher of all rights
وَمُحَقِّقُ كُلِّ حَقٍّ،
and that you are the eradicator of all wrongs.
وَمُبْطِلُ كُلِّ باطِل،
O my master: I accept you as my leader, guide, master, and adviser.
رَضيتُكَ يا مَوْلايَ إِماماً وَهادِياً وَوَلِيّاً وَمُرْشِداً،
I never seek any alternative and I never betake any master save You.
لا أَبْتَغي بِكَ بَدَلاً وَلا أَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِكَ وَلِيّاً،
I bear witness that you are verily the unchanging right that is free of any defect
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ الْحَقُّ الثّابِتُ الَّذي لا عَيْبَ فيهِ،
and that Allah’s promise concerning you is so true that I never doubt no matter how long the occultation will take and the time (of your advent) will be far
وَأَنَّ وَعْدَ اللهِ فيكَ حَقٌّ لا أَرْتابُ لِطُولِ الغَيْبَةِ وَبُعْدِ الاَْمَدِ،
and I will never have misgivings like those who ignore you and ignore the right that you represent
وَلا أَتَحَيَّرُ مَعَ مَنْ جَهِلَكَ وَجَهِلَ بِكَ،
and I am waiting and expecting your age
مُنْتَظِرٌ مُتَوَقِّعٌ لإَِيّامِكَ،
and you are the unmatched intercessor
وَأَنْتَ الشّافِعُ الَّذي لا تُنازَعُ،
and the irrefutable master.
وَالْوَلِيُّ الَّذى لا تُدافَعُ،
Allah has saved you for the support of the religion and for the fortification of the believers
ذَخَرَكَ اللهُ لِنُصْرَةِ الدّينِ وَإِعْزازِ الْمُؤْمِنينَ،
and for retaliating upon the deniers and the apostates.
وَالاْنْتِقامِ مِنَ الْجاحِدينَ الْمارِقينَ،
I bear witness that through the loyalty to you, deeds are approved
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ بِوِلايَتِكَ تُقْبَلُ الاَْعْمالُ،
and acts are purified
وَتُزَكَّى الاَْفْعالُ،
and rewards are doubled
وَتُضاعَفُ الْحَسَناتُ،
and wrongdoings are erased.
وَتُمْحَى السَّيِّئاتُ،
therefore, he who bears loyalty to you
فَمَنْ جاءَ بِوِلايَتِكَ
and recognizes your Imamate
وَاعْتَرَفَ بِإِمامَتِكَ
will have his deeds approved,
قُبِلَتْ أَعْمالُهُ
his sayings credited,
وَصُدِّقَتْ أَقْوالُهُ
his rewards doubled,
وَتَضاعَفَتْ حَسَناتُهُ
and his wrongdoings erased.
وَمُحِيَتْ سَيِّئاتُهُ،
while if one rejects the loyalty to you
وَمَنْ عَدَلَ عَنْ وِلايَتِكَ
and ignores the recognition of you
وَجَهِلَ مَعْرِفَتَكَ
and follows anyone else,
وَاسْتَبْدَلَ بِكَ غَيْرَكَ
Allah shall throw one down in Hellfire on the nose,
كَبَّهُ اللهُ عَلى مَنْخَرِهِ فِي النّارِ،
and He shall never approve any of one’s acts
وَلَمْ يَقْبَلِ اللهُ لَهُ عَمَلاً
and shall never set up a balance for one on the Day of Resurrection.
وَلَمْ يُقِمْ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيامَةِ وَزْناً،
I ask Allah and His angels and you, my master, to testify to this for me
اُشْهِدُ اللهَ واُشْهِدُ مَلائِكَتَهُ وَاُشْهِدُكَ يا مَوْلايَ بِهذا،
the outward of this declaration is as same as its inward
ظاهِرُهُ كَباطِنِهِ
and its secret is as same as its overtness,
وَسِرُّهُ كَعَلانِيَتِهِ،
and you are the witness on this declaration,
wa anta alshshahidu `ala dhalika
وَأَنْتَ الشّاهِدُ عَلى ذلِكَ،
and this is my pledge with you and my covenant to you
وَهُوَ عَهْدي إِلَيْكَ وَميثاقي لَدَيْكَ،
since you are verily the system of the religion
إِذْ أَنْتَ نِظامُ الدّينِ،
and the leader of the pious ones
وَيَعْسُوبُ الْمُتَّقينَ،
and the dignity of the monotheists
وَعِزُّ الْمُوَحِّدينَ،
and this is the command of the Lord of the Worlds to me.
وَبِذلِكَ أَمَرَني رَبُّ الْعالَمينَ،
even if times take longer periods
فَلَوْ تَطاوَلَتِ الدُّهُورُ،
and even if ages take extend
وَتَمادَتِ الاَْعْمارُ،
this will increase in me nothing but belief in you
لَمْ أَزْدَدْ فيكَ إِلاّ يَقين
and love for you
وَلَكَ إِلاّ حُبّاً،
and reliance and trust in you
وَعَلَيْكَ إِلاّ مُتَّكَلاً وَمُعْتَمَداً،
and anticipation and expectation of your advent
وَلِظُهُورِكَ إِلاّ مُتَوَقِّعاً وَمُنْتَظِرَاً،
and waiting to strive hard in your presence
وَلِجِهادي بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ مُتَرَقِّباً،
So, I provide myself, my fortune, my sons, my family members and all that which Almighty Allah will grant me for your sake and for obeying your orders and refraining from that which you order me not to do.
فَأَبْذُلُ نَفْسي وَمالي وَوَلَدي وَأَهْلي وَجَميعَ ما خَوَّلَني رَبّي بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ وَالتَّصَرُّفَ بَيْنَ أَمْرِكَ وَنَهْيِكَ،
O my master: If I catch your thriving days
مَوْلايَ فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتُ أَيّامَكَ الزّاهِرَةَ
and I will see your splendid signs,
وَأَعْلامَكَ الْباهِرَةَ
then, here I, a servant of you, am yielding to your orders and abstaining from that which you order me not to do.
فَها أَنا ذا عَبْدُكَ الْمُتَصَرِّفُ بَيْنَ أَمْرِكَ وَنَهْيِكَ،
through all that, I hope for martyrdom before you and success in your view.
أَرْجُو بِهِ الشَهادَةَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ وَالْفَوْزَ لَدَيْكَ،
O my master: But if death comes upon me before your advent,
مَوْلايَ فَإِنْ أَدْرَكَنِي الْمَوْتُ قَبْلَ ظُهُورِكَ
then I beseech you and your immaculate fathers to mediate for me before Almighty Allah
فَإِنّي أَتَوَسَّلُ بِكَ وَبِآبائِكَ الطّاهِرينَ إِلَى اللهِ تَعالى
Whom I pray to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَأَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد،
and to decide for me a return after your advent
وَأَنْ يَجْعَلَ لي كَرَّةً في ظُهُورِكَ
and a second life during your days
وَرَجْعَةً في أَيّامِكَ،
so that I will attain obedience to you, which is my desire,
لإَِبْلُغَ مِنْ طاعَتِكَ مُرادي
and to heal my heart from your enemies.
وَأَشْفِيَ مِنْ أَعْدائِكَ فُؤادي،
O my master: While I am visiting you, I am standing in the position of the repentant wrongdoers,
مَوْلايَ وَقَفْتُ في زِيارَتِكَ مَوْقِفَ الْخاطِئينَ النّادِمينَ
who fear the chastisement of the Lord of the Worlds
الْخائِفينَ مِنْ عِقابِ رَبِّ الْعالَمينَ،
and I am, meanwhile, depending upon your intercession for me
وَقَدِ اتَّكَلْتُ عَلى شَفاعَتِكَ،
and I, through my loyalty to you and your intercession for me, wish for eradication of my sins
وَرَجَوْتُ بِمُوالاتِكَ وَشَفاعَتِكَ مَحْوَ ذُنُوبي،
and covering of my defects
وَسَتْرَ عُيُوبي،
and forgiveness of my slips.
وَمَغْفِرَةَ زَلَلي،
So, O my master, (please) help me, your servant, achieve my hope
فَكُنْ لِوَلِيِّكَ يا مَوْلايَ عِنْدَ تَحْقيقِ أَمَلِهِ
and (please) ask Allah to forgive my slips
وَاسْأَلِ اللهَ غُفْرانَ زَلَلِهِ،
verily, I am clinging to your rope
فَقَدْ تَعَلَّقَ بِحَبْلِكَ،
and holding on my loyalty to you
wa tamassaka biwilayatika
وَتَمَسَّكَ بِوِلايَتِكَ،
and declaring my disavowal of your enemies.
وَتَبَرَّأَ مِنْ أَعْدائِكَ،
O Allah: (please) bless Muhammad and his Household and fulfill Your promise to Your Friend.
اَللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ وَأَنْجِزْ لِوَلِيِّكَ ما وَعَدْتَهُ،
O Allah: (please) make prevalent his word
اَللّهُمَّ أَظْهِرْ كَلِمَتَهُ،
and elevate his mission
وَأَعْلِ دَعْوَتَهُ،
and support him against Your and his enemies; O the Lord of the Worlds.
وَانْصُرْهُ عَلى عَدُوِّهِ وَعَدُوِّكَ يا رَبَّ الْعالَمينَ،
O Allah: (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
اَللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد
and allow Your Perfect Word and Your concealed one in Your lands
وَأَظْهِرْ كَلِمَتَكَ التّامَّةَ وَمُغَيَّبَكَ في أَرْضِكَ
—the afraid, the vigilant—to reappear.
الْخائِفَ الْمُتَرَقِّبَ،
O Allah: (please) support him with powerful support
اَللّهُمَّ انْصُرْهُ نَصْراً عَزيزاً
and give him a nigh victory.
وَافْتَحْ لَهُ فَتْحاً يَسيراً،
O Allah: (please) fortify the religion through him after it will have been sluggish,
اَللّهُمَّ وَأَعِزَّ بِهِ الدّينَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُولِ،
and demonstrate the right through him after it will have declined,
وَأَطْلِعْ بِهِ الْحَقَّ بَعْدَ الاُْفُولِ،
and remove darkness through him
وَأَجْلِ بِهِ الظُّلْمَةَ
and relieve griefs through him.
وَاكْشِفْ بِهِ الْغُمَّةَ،
O Allah: (please) spread security over the lands through him
اَللّهُمَّ وَآمِنْ بِهِ الْبِلادَ،
and guide the servants (of You) through him.
وَاهْدِ بِهِ الْعِبادَ،
O Allah: (please) fill the earth with justice and equality through him as it will have been filled with injustice and wrong.
اَللّهُمَّ امْلأَْ بِهِ الاَْرْضَ عَدْلاً وَقِسْطاً كَما مُلِئَتْ ظُلْماً وَجَور
verily, You are All-hearing and Responsive.
إِنَّكَ سَميعٌ مُجيبٌ،
Peace be upon you; O Allah’s friend.
اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا وَلِيَّ اللهِ،
(please) permit me, your servant, to enter your holy place.
اْئْذَنْ لِوَلِيِّكَ في الدُّخُولِ إِلى حَرَمِكَ
May Allah’s blessings, mercy, and benedictions be upon you and your immaculate fathers.
صَلَواتُ اللهِ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلى آبائِكَ الطّاهِرينَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكاتُه
