A copy of the Holy Quran with seven Qira’at (various ways of reciting the Holy Book) has been put on show at the international book fair in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youths of Oman has displayed the copy, which is among the country’s rare Quran manuscripts, according to Atheer website.

The copy of the Holy Book dates back to the 12th century Hijri.

Calligraphed by Abdullah bin Bashir al-Hadrami, it includes all the verses of the Quran.

Each part begins on the left page and is divided into 8 sheets, or 16 pages. The copy has 240 pages with each page containing 15 lines.

The notations on the seven readings are in the footnotes.

Hadrami is said to have been adept at coordinating pages and lines, as every page begins with the beginning of a verse and concludes with the end of that or another verse. Also the first letter in the first line is the same as the first letter in the last line of the same page.

The coordination between the lines and pages and the beauty of the calligraphy are among the main features of the manuscript.

The Riyadh International Book Fair 2022 was launched in the Saudi capital on September 29. Some 1,200 publishing houses representing 32 countries are taking part in the book fair.

The pavilion of Oman at the book fair has presented books on various subjects such as history, literature, Fiqh, Arabic language, philosophy and medicine.
