Condolence Message from the World Assembly of Shi’a Studies
and the National Secretariat of Religious Studies
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
“When a scholar passes away, a breach is created in Islam that nothing can fill until the Day of Resurrection.”
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.
With hearts filled with profound grief and sorrow, we received the heartbreaking news of the passing of the eminent jurist, distinguished authority in Islamic jurisprudence, and revered Marja’ of emulation, Grand Ayatollah Hajj Sayyid Musa Shubayri Zanjani (may his sacred soul rest in peace).
The loss of this far-sighted Marja’ and Godly scholar constitutes a profound void in the Islamic seminaries and the religious community. Throughout his blessed life, he was not only a towering figure in the sciences of Rijal, Hadith, and the jurisprudence of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), serving as a guiding light for those pursuing the path of Islamic jurisprudence, but also, through his exemplary moral conduct, exceptional asceticism, and fatherly demeanor, established a profound bond between different generations of seminary scholars and the wider community.
The World Assembly of Shi’a Studies, while mourning this great calamity, emphasizes his distinguished role in safeguarding the intellectual foundations of the Shi’a school of thought and his scholarly support for the Islamic Republic of Iran. Through his profound and wise outlook, he consistently provided reassurance to those devoted to the Islamic system and contributed to strengthening unity and solidarity within the Muslim community.
This revered Marja’, who devoted his noble life to the Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt and to elucidating the truths of religion, has now entered the Divine Mercy, where he shall, by the grace of Allah, reap the reward and sweetness of his lifelong scholarly and ethical endeavors.
The World Assembly of Shi’a Studies extends its deepest condolences on this irreparable loss to His Eminence Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his noble reappearance), the Esteemed Leader, the Grand Maraji’ of emulation, the Islamic seminaries, the honorable family of the deceased, his distinguished, learned, and devoted sons, and all those devoted to the school of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
