In the Name of God the Most Beneficent the Most Merciful
“They desire to put out the light of God with their mouths, but God will perfect His light though the faithless should be averse” [The Holy Quran, 61:8]
Insulting the beliefs and values of religions is to be blamed by all free human beings. Insulting the Holy Quran, which hurts the feelings of more than two billion Muslims is an unforgivable crime stemming from blind and extremist terrorism.
Islam is a religion of peace, friendship and respect for the rights of others and highlights the need to protect religious sanctities, however, this heinous act is inconsistent with any interpretation of the freedom of expression and respect for the beliefs and sanctities of others and is at odds with international efforts to combat the promotion of violence and extremism.
Al-Mustafa International University expresses its disgust with such shameful and uncivilized actions and behaviors in insulting the sanctity of the Holy Quran, which is repeated periodically. It considers these acts as violating humanistic principles in respecting divine religions and the peaceful coexistence of the followers of these religions and emphasizes the necessity of legal confrontation with the perpetrators of such actions.
The statement comes as Rasmus Paludan, leader of a far-right Danish political party called Hard Line (Stram Kurs), has burned several copies of the Quran in separate events during the past weeks under the protection of the Swedish police.
The continuous acts of blasphemy by the far-right politician has been strongly and widely condemned by Muslims from across the world.
