An Islamic history researcher from Jamia Al-Zahra (SA) said: Understanding the correct conduct of the Prophet (PBUH) and adhering to it, along with striving to institutionalize the Prophetic culture, will bring us closer to an ideal society.

Ms. Seyyedah Mahin Mirafzali stated in an interview with Shafaqna: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was appointed at a time when human values had significantly declined. People not only lacked a proper understanding of the universe and themselves but were also in a dire moral state, acting contrary to their innate human nature.

The actions of people during the Age of Ignorance, which was contemporary with the Prophet, had led society into a state of decline. Imam Ali (AS) describes the conditions of people during that time, reflecting their lifestyle. Imam Ali (AS) says: God sent the Prophet (PBUH) at a time when people were in confusion and bewilderment, and their severe ignorance had made them foolish. Their inordinate desires and arrogance had cast them into the abyss.

The Prophet’s (PBUH) Educational Activities Transformed the Ignorant Society into a Human Society

She added: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent to such a society. The Prophet’s (PBUH) educational and guiding activities led to the transformation of this society into a human society. The individuals in society came to have human ideals and goals, and people’s efforts were directed towards achieving human perfection.

She stated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) undertook two key actions to transition people from such a society: The first was the creation of belief, and the second was behavioral modification. The Prophet changed the beliefs of the people of the Age of Ignorance towards a human society and did not stop there; he also worked to ensure that these new beliefs were reflected in people’s behavior.

She identified the effort to create understanding as the most crucial step the Prophet took for belief formation, and continued: The Prophet (PBUH), through his awareness-raising activities in the form of explaining Islamic teachings, warning and giving glad tidings, preaching, and engaging in the best of arguments, debates, and using evidence and reasoning, led people to a correct understanding of existential and human issues and established human beliefs in their hearts.

The Prophet (PBUH) introduced people to the dos and don’ts of behavior and human lifestyle and delineated the boundaries between human society and the Age of Ignorance through his teachings. Efforts to remove barriers to understanding, such as rejecting incorrect beliefs, criticizing erroneous ideas, eliminating ignorance and fanaticism, were aimed at accepting human beliefs and transforming beliefs into actions. Correct beliefs and behaviors changed the cultural atmosphere that people lived in, and the society became intertwined with Islamic culture and progressed towards perfection.
