Individuals develop their worldview based on their deep beliefs. Accordingly, some people are optimistic about God and some others are not.

Remaining pessimistic about God has no other result other than anxiety about the future as it is also considered a great sin.

According to Quranic terminology, one can refer to at least two meanings for the concept of conjecture. Firstly, it refers to skepticism and fear about what individuals have no or limited information about. This is mentioned in verse 28 of Surah An-Najm: “And they have no knowledge of it; they do not follow anything but conjecture, and surely conjecture does not avail against the truth at all.”

The second meaning refers to being suspicious and doubtful about other people or about God.

Remaining suspicious about the immediate environment or people is among serious mental problems that affect relations of individuals.

Meanwhile, staying doubtful about God Almighty is one of the major sins which directly influences one’s beliefs. Those who believe in the wisdom and justice of God will have a positive view of the world and its incidents. “Allah wants ease for you and does not want hardship for you. And that you fulfill the number of days and exalt Allah who has guided you in order that you be thankful.” (Surah Baqarah, verse 185)

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once said that being doubtful about God is a great sin while also noting that those who are hopeful of God will be rewarded with Paradise. In other words, remaining optimistic brings peace to individuals and guides them towards good deeds. This is while living with doubts will only lead to depression, disappointment, and distancing from God’s mercies.

Somebody who is hopeful of God will try to repent after committing a sin. In other words, this group of people can tolerate calamities and sufferings with more ease as they are sure about God’s mercies.
