The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the resumption of issuing Umrah visas that had been suspended during the Hajj season.

The ministry said in a statement that it has started issuing visas for those from outside Saudi Arabia willing to perform the Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque.

It said the Umrah pilgrimage will resume on the first day of the lunar Hijri month of Muharram, which falls on July 30.

According to the statement, visa applications for Umrah should be made via the Eatmarna App.

The Saudi ministry had suspended Umrah on June 24.

Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca which Muslims can traditionally take at any time of the year, unlike Hajj pilgrimage that can be performed only in the first days of the lunar Hijri month of Dhul Hajja.

This year, some one million pilgrims from different countries took part in the Hajj pilgrimage.

The Hajj season began on July 1, marking the first post-pandemic pilgrimage season after two years of major disruption caused by COVID-19.
