Scholar Highlights Need to Look at Quranic Teachings to Resolve Contemporary Issues

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Alviri, a Baqir al-Olum University professor, addressed a forum held Monday night at the 29th Tehran International Quran Exhibition.

In his speech, the scholar elaborated on the role of Imam Sajjad (AS) and Imam Baqer (AS) in making the Quran the foundation of creation and growth of Islamic sciences.

He also said some branches of science like Tajweed, Qara’a (recitation), and Tafseer (interpretation) directly developed to better understand or recite the Quran.

There were other sciences that the Holy Quran’s teachings and concepts helped to grow, including theology, which was developed to defend the Quran’s very important message, namely monotheism, he added.

The scholar then highlighted the brilliant history of Islamic civilization and said the issues of the Muslim world today can be resolved by referring to the Holy Quran.

Imam Khomeini, Martyr Morteza Motahhari, and Martyr Mohammad Baqer Sadr were among the figures who made extensive efforts in this regard, he said.

Today, it is our duty to develop Islamic sciences and uses Quranic teachings to provide answers to the contemporary world issues, he concluded.

The 29th Tehran International Quran Exhibition is underway at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) here in the Iranian capital for two weeks.
