Convoy to Hold Quranic Programs on Anniversary of General Soleimani’s Martyrdom

A Quranic convoy named after Lt. General Qassem Soleimani has been launched to mark the anniversary of the great commander’s martyrdom, an official said.

Secretary of the headquarters for commemorating General Soleimani’s third martyrdom anniversary, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Reza Shafiei, said the convoy includes some of the country’s prominent Quranic figures.

It will hold Quranic programs in several cities of Iran, including Tehran, Yazd, Kashan, Naeen, Ardakan, and Kerman, he noted.

The cleric added that the convoy will arrive in Kerman on Saturday to hold a Quranic circle and recite Fatihah at the tomb of Martyr Soleimani.

General Soleimani, who was the commander of the IRGC Quds Force, Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Deputy Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of January 3, 2020.

The White House and the Pentagon claimed responsibility for the assassinations, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of then US president Donald Trump.

Various programs are planned to be organized in Iran, Iraq and a number of other countries to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of General Soleimani, al-Muhandis and their comrades.
