World Reacts to Israel’s Terrorist Assassination of Hezbollah Leader

The martyrdom of Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, by the Zionist regime has drawn reactions from officials of different countries and international figures.

Hezbollah on Saturday confirmed the martyrdom of its popular secretary general.

It said that Nasrallah has achieved martyrdom in massive Israeli airstrikes targeting residential buildings in southern Beirut.

“His Eminence, the Master of Resistance, the righteous servant, has joined his Lord and His pleasure as a great martyr — an outstanding, courageous, wise, and insightful leader — joining the ranks of the radiant martyrs of Karbala in the divine journey of faith, following in the footsteps of the prophets and martyr imams,” the statement said.

The Lebanese Amal movement offered condolences on the martyrdom of the great resistance figure, describing him as a sincere leader who had no fear of anyone in defending the truth, freedom, and liberation of Lebanon and Palestine.

It added that Nasrallah’s martyrdom will not deter resistance forces from continuing the path of victory and confrontation with the Zionist terrorism.

Ziyad al-Nakhalah, teh secretary general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, commemorated Nasrallah, whose great achievements will remain in Lebanon and the region.

“We are certain that the combatant brothers of Sayed Hassan Nasrallah in Hezbollah will continue his path and raise the flag of resistance in the holy city of al-Quds, God willing,” he added.

Saad al-Hariri, the former prime minister of Lebanon, condemned the Israeli assassination and said this act of terrorism will push Lebanon and the region into a new phase of violence.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas condemned the killing of the Lebanese leader as a “cowardly, terrorist act” by Israel.

“We condemn in the strongest terms this barbaric Zionist aggression and targeting of residential buildings,” the group said in a statement, accusing Israel of disregarding “all international values, customs and charters” and “blatantly threatening international security and peace, in light of silence, helplessness and international neglect”.

“In the face of this Zionist crime and massacre, we renew our absolute solidarity and stand united with the brothers in Hezbollah and the Islamic resistance in Lebanon,” the movement said.

Iraqi officials, political groups and resistance figures, including the National Approach Alliance, the Badr Organization, the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq group, the Sunni Awqaf Department, and the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) offered condolences on the martyrdom of Nasrallah, and described his assassination as a crime against humanity.

Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani condemned the attack as “shameful” and “a crime that shows the Zionist entity has crossed all the red lines”.

In a statement, Sudani called Nasrallah “a martyr on the path of the righteous”, and declared a three-day mourning period.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Israel’s recent attacks in Lebanon as part of an Israeli policy of “genocide, occupation, and invasion”, urging the UN Security Council and other bodies to stop Israel.

In a post on X, Erdogan said Turkey stood with the Lebanese people and its government, offering his condolences for those killed in the Israeli strikes, while saying the Muslim world should show a more “determined” stance.

Syria’s foreign ministry also censured the Zionist regime’s assassination of Nasrallah, saying Tel Aviv demonstrated its cowardliness and terrorist nature and proved it has no regard for international laws and regulations.

It underscored that the path of the Hezbollah leader will continue for the liberation of all occupied Arab lands.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel also slammed Nasrallah’s assassination and said it poses a serious threat to regional and international peace and the Zionist regime is solely to blame for it.
